Hungry Hungry Hippo
So that is what a hippo tongue looks like.
This image is a detailed shot of the inside of a Hippopotamus‘ mouth. I took this image a few Saturdays ago, when visiting Pete the Rhino (featured earlier). I made it a link for those of you who can get a slight bit queasy, or may be eating.
Macro Glass Detail #2
I photographed these glass vessels at my friends’ glass shop in Cannon Beach, Oregon: IceFire Glassworks. Jim Kingwell, Suzanne Kindland, and Mark Gordon are the principal artists at this gallery/workshop. This weekend, Suzanne will be one of three featured artists at the Cannon Beach Arts Association Miniature Show.
Oregon Zoo Rhino
Here is a picture I took in July of 2004. I’m not sure if this is Pete (whom I introduced a couple days ago) or whether it is Miadi. One major difference are the shapes of the horns. An interesting fact about the horns of a rhinoceros is that they control the shape and sizes of the horns by how little or how much they shape them. You can see in this image the blueish marks, which come from the bars in holding pens where they get their medication and can be examined by the handlers.
