Wahkeenah Falls #1
What a cold, chilly morning we had in the Portland area. For some reason it inspired me to head up the gorge to our wonderful waterfalls on my day off. Temperatures in the 20s, wind gusts in the 50s, perceived temperatures in the single digits. What a day. This image is of Wahkeenah Falls, just West of Multnomah Falls on the historic Columbia River Highway. This time of year, the light for the waterfalls is pretty inadequate, due to the Sun being in the Southern sky, therefore behind the rockfaces that display the falls. This said, the light I had wasn’t too bad. It is a little flat because all of the light is ambient light reflecting off the Northern walls of the Gorge. I was hoping that there would be more ice framing the falls, but we need a few more days of cold to get the image I have in my mind.
