Silver Falls – Middle North Falls

Yesterday was a wonderful day for a hike at Silver Falls State Park.
I originally wanted to arrive at the trail head at sunrise, but I found out that the park does not open until 7 a.m. I knew the likelihood of anyone enforcing that rule would be small, but it gave me a reason to sleep in a bit longer. (I’m glad I did, otherwise I would not have got the shot I posted yesterday.)
After arriving I found that the light in the canyon is very nice for photography even after sunrise, because the sun does not break over the walls until about two hours later.
I parked at the North entrance of the park and took the two mile hike down to the Lower North Falls. I did not hike the full eight mile loop to South Falls and back because the light was getting very harsh once I saw all the northern falls.
My photo eye was only seeing the large landscapes. I tried to exhibit patience by stopping and looking for some good detail shots, but it just didn’t happen; I hope practice makes patience.
